Tanzania Marine’s new volunteers are settling in at camp, working on their Advanced Scuba certification and fish ID, and teaching at the Utende and Chole primary schools. Last week we prepared our boat for surveys. We then headed on an adventure to a neighbouring village to give a workshop for the hippo ecotourism project which everyone was really excited about!

This week we completed eight reef surveys, conducted a workshop for the hippo project in Gonge, finished up our fish ID lectures, and headed into Kilindoni Saturday night for a disco. One busy week! One volunteer also passed their Advanced Water Course which has put the camp in high spirits. Finally, we also have a new cat on camp…meet Kiko!
