I was in Fiji on the volunteer teaching programme for a month and every second of it was amazing! I stayed in a home stay and I honestly didn't want to leave! To be able to see their culture first hand was special and they welcomed me with open arms! It took a few days to adjust to the lifestyle but after that I was fine. The teaching was very daunting as they allowed me to teach independently from the word go. Once the initial fear had gone I loved every minute. The children were thrilled for me to be there and they took full advantage of asking every question they had whether it was about class work or what it is like back in England! I was included in everything both at the home stay and at the school and felt like part of the family. Definitely a once in a life time experience and I would recommend people to do it! Even though I was there for just a month I feel that I made a tremendous difference to my family, the school and the children I was teaching.
